Gabby Petito’s mom has revealed the last time she interacted with Brian Laundrie’s parents after speculating over his death.
The story of Petito’s death is a tragedy that we have seen time and time again.
A young person, full of life, in love and striving for their future was snuffed out again by their significant other.
The thing that hit many in Petito’s case is that she appeared to be a girl with a zest for life, who was actively vlogging her entire life, and appeared to have an ideal relationship with her fiancé, Laundrie.
So, when she went missing after the pair set off on a cross-country trip of a lifetime in July 2021, people were puzzled.
The couple lived out of her Ford Transit van they converted into a camper and regularly posted their relationship on Instagram.
While they looked so in love on the outside, it would only be weeks later that they would become the center of a criminal investigation.
As police would soon find out, Petito’s fiancé is likely to have murdered her, before it is believed that he took his own life as the search for her body was underway.

An autopsy later found that she was killed by ‘blunt-force injuries’ to her head and neck and ‘manual strangulation’ on either August 27 or 28, 2021.
Laundrie died on September 21 and a month later his remains were discovered, with medical examiners stating that died from a gunshot wound to the head.
Nichole Schmidt, Petito’s mom has been a vocal advocate for her daughter’s life, as has her family.
Now, she has opened up about the last interaction she had with Laundrie’s parents (Christopher and Roberta) amid her speculation that one of them murdered their own son.

While appearing as a guest on the The Squeeze podcast of Twilight actor Taylor Lautner and his wife, Taylor Dome, she was asked about the last time she spoke to Laundrie’s family.
She shared that she last interacted with the married couple ‘when they came to my house in New York to pick up Gabby’s things to bring down to Florida with them’, however, she also thinks they ‘texted a couple times’ and they were also Facebook friends too.
She said: “I thought they were just quiet people and I’m okay with that – you don’t have to be my best friend – but, yeah, I never actually spoke to them after that until we saw them when they did the depositions for our lawsuit.”
When the Taylors went on to share how they couldn’t believe that the Laundrie family were not helpful during the investigation into finding Petito after she was reported as missing, the mother responded that she couldn’t understand how they would not help and shared that Laundrie’s mother ‘is a sociopath’.
She went on to explain that when she could not get into contact with her daughter or Laundrie for some time during their road trip, she texted his mother to ask whether she had ‘heard from the kids’, but did not get a text back.
This is because she believes that his parents ‘knew what he had done’, and then allegedly paid a $25,000 retainer on a ‘high-profile defense lawyer’ to represent their son.
Schmidt went on to talk about what she thinks happened to Laundrie when it was claimed that he killed himself after writing a letter about his version of the events which led to her daughter’s death.
She claimed: “I will say straightforward, I don’t think he killed himself. I think either his father or [his mother] did. That’s just my opinion, it’s not a fact, it’s an opinion.”
